The History of M C Bank
M C Bank was chartered in 1954 and opened for business in Morgan City, Louisiana in January of 1955. The Bank was originally named Morgan City Bank & Trust Company. On April 1, 1991, MC Bancshares was formed as a one-bank holding company with its solely owned subsidiary being Morgan City Bank & Trust Company. Simultaneous with the merger of the bank into the holding company, the Bank’s name changed to M C Bank & Trust Company. M C Bank is a locally and privately owned institution focused on strengthening the communities in Louisiana.

Morgan City Bank was established in 1954
Morgan City Bank was established in 1954. Organized by Joseph Finkelstein, J J Hebert, George Williams, Thomas Shannon, Sam Siracusa, H. Newton Smith, Dr. S.J. Russo and Robert E Brumby.
Morgan City Bank’s doors open for business

The doors first opened for business on January 20, 1955.
First Annual Shareholders Meeting and First Elected Board Members
First annual shareholders meeting held where the first elected board members consisted of Joseph Finkelstein, J J Hebert, Robert E Brumby, Louis F Maraist Jr, Warren Fortier, Dr. S J Russo, Thomas Shannon, Sam Siracusa, H. Newton Smith and George Williams.
Colonial Plaza was built

In 1964, Colonial Plaza was built and served as the Bank’s new main office.
Amelia and Bayou Vista Locations Opened

Two other offices, one located in Amelia and the other in Bayou Vista, have been in operation since the late 1970s.
MC Bancshares was formed
On April 1, 1991, MC Bancshares was formed as a one-bank holding company with its solely owned subsidiary being Morgan City Bank & Trust Company. Simultaneous with the merger of the bank into the holding company, the Bank’s name changed to M C Bank & Trust Company.
The bank’s named changed to M C Bank and Trust Company in April 1991.
M C Bank acquired Guaranty Bank & Trust Company of Morgan City
On November 30, 1997, M C Bank acquired Guaranty Bank & Trust Company of Morgan City. The main office was then relocated to 1201 Brashear Avenue in the Carline Land Corporation building.
As part of the acquisition, a banking center located on Pinhook Road in Lafayette was obtained, establishing M C Bank’s first footprint in the Acadiana market.
Lafayette location moves to Verrot School Road

Youngsville Location Opens

Houma & Lakeview Locations Open

Houma Office Opens in 2021.

Lakeview Location Opens in Greater New Orleans area.
Metairie Main, Hwy 190, and Veterans Locations Open

Metairie Main – Loan Production Office Opens.

Hwy 190 Location Opens.

Bayou Vista moves to a larger location.

Veterans Location Opens.
